Sensor Verification Report

Hardware-level compatibility tests for industrial sensors on real-time control and HIL platforms

Incremental encoder wired to Quanser Q8-USB DAQ board
QUARC Simulink model with HIL Read block showing encoder waveform

Verification Summary

This incremental encoder has been verified compatible with the Quanser Q8-USB DAQ board under the QUARC/Simulink real-time environment. The encoder's A/B/Z channel outputs were connected directly to the Q8-USB digital I/O terminals with no additional driver or signal conditioning required. Position and direction were read correctly through the QUARC HIL Read block, with stable pulse counts confirmed across multiple test runs.

Verification Information

  • Sensor Model: Incremental Encoder (XXX)
  • Test Platform: Quanser Q8-USB
  • Software Environment: QUARC / Simulink
  • Signal Type: Incremental Encoder (Channel A/B)
  • Test Date: 2026
  • Status: ✅ Verified

Verification Result

The encoder was successfully recognized and operated within the Quanser environment. Signal output was clean and stable, with no missed counts or direction errors observed during testing. The same electrical interface (5V logic, open-collector A/B outputs) is also commonly used with other real-time control platforms such as dSPACE and Speedgoat, though those platforms have not been directly tested by us.
